Using Headspace to meditate

I started using the app Headspace for meditation this last year. I really like a guided meditation. At first, meditation is not easy but having meditation be guided has been helpful. There are a lot of different options in the Headspace app. It gives you the ability to adjust the time you meditate. The app also gives you a male or female voice option. So if you only have 10 minutes you can select that. If the female voice is more comforting to you, then you can go with that option. If you had more time you could go longer. There are lots of different ways to go with meditation.

We all have stress in our lives and now the COVID-19 pandemic. Meditation can be extremely helpful. Taking 10 to 15 minutes each morning to meditate creates a space to clear the mind. Clearing the mind that short period of time every morning really does help. We have so many thoughts buzzing around our minds that occupy virtually every minute of the day.

The one practice that I would like to try to become better at would be to do these meditations more than once a day. In my day I rush from one item to another till my mind just can’t handle anymore. I feel bad at times when my mind can’t process or think of the next thing to move on to but I guess that’s the sign of burnout. If I could schedule in that 5 minutes or even less to just let my mind sit in peace I imagine it would be hugely helpful.

Exercise is another thing I think could really help. My problem is I hate the thought of exercise. I gain no joy in exercise. Same with sports. I don’t mind going for walks and hiking. So I try to do that every day and my goal is 12,000 steps each day. I have a Fitbit Versa to keep track of my steps. If you have any suggestions feel free to pass them on. You just never know what will stick.
