Gratitude at play on Sunday

Hey everyone, it’s Sunday and the end of another week and time to do a gratitude check. The sun is out today and the temperatures are getting nicer outside. This weekend we went to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm and attended their Tulip Festival. It was so beautiful. Reds, yellows, purples, whites and so much more. It was so nice to get out and see all the natural beauty they provided.

Today was so sunny and that’s just so nice. Even right now the sun has just went down behind the homes to the west. I like these days when it’s light out later. I also like waking up to the sun as well. I think it’s all part of the circadian rhythm.

Gratitude

So what am I grateful for this week. Let’s see… 1) I’m grateful for a great boss. 2) I’m grateful for a great partner and 3) I’m grateful to understand that I have good life. I think these are all incredibly important things. I feel that we overlook these kinds of things often. Far to often do we focus on the negative or bad. Example: I have a pain in my left shin. Sure I could complain about it but truth is that it’s getting better and the pain is lessening.

in my last post, Spring has sprung and I’m grateful, I spoke about being grateful and I’m coming back to that today. In life there’s so many things to distract us and so many people who want to bring doubt into our lives. Those people shouldn’t be welcomed into your life. Sadly sometimes those people are family. Other times their people you think you can trust. I know that I’ve had several people in my life that I’ve had to eject for my emotional safety.

Toxic people

If you have someone toxic in your life DUMP THEM or at a minimum keep them at a distance. We’re hard enough on ourselves. Why would you want to invite people into your life to increase the pressure? As an example, I had a friend who kept making these jokes about me, and at first, I let it go but then I started to let him know I didn’t think it was funny. Finally, I just had to walk away because it was probably more about some sense of jealousy he had or some other weird reason. I lost a ‘friend’ but I gained some peace of mind.

I also think that our primitive selves lived in this fight or flight word that demanded that they stay alert. This was just survival for them at this time but in today’s world I don’t think we need to be worried about being eaten by a tiger or attacked because we’ve encroached on someone or something’s territory. I had someone tell me recently that we need to ask ourselves “Is this/that true?” I may sound stupid at first but for many of us there’s so much running through our head and I think it goes back to the primitive brain. Watching out to make sure no one or nothing gets us!

Think of the good things in your life and be grateful for them. To often we don’t think about all the good in our lives and think about how grateful we should be for those little things.

What are you watching?

If you’re looking for something to watch I’ve been watching Invincible on Amazon Prime. It’s not for children and has some serious graphic violence but the story line is twisted and very anti hero. You have to pay attention and there’s several different plot lines going on. I would recommend it though. If you like Amazon’s The Boys I think you’ll like this too.

Well till next week folks. Stay safe and focus on the good in life. There’s normally more good than bad in life. Leave me a comment about gratitude or Invincible. Love to hear what you think!
