Hi everyone, this has been a week to remember. Everyone is freaked out about this coronavirus so the grocery stores have been ransacked. In an effort to slow down the spread of the virus they recommend social distancing. Then we’ve had two presidential press conferences have lead many american’s to be nervous to say the least.
I went out yesterday to the grocery story to get some food for this week and when we walked up to the refrigeration sections for poultry the was completely empty. I mean COMPLETELY EMPTY. We checked back today and there wasn’t anything today either. Rice, beans, pasta, toilet paper, paper towel and etc have been picked over. I remember growing up in the midwest and they would forecast a winter storm and people would go stock up but this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
Last night I was out for a walk and stopped by a Safeway in my neighborhood. As I walked in the story there was a guy with a cart full of toilet paper. A whole cart full, really? Coronavirus isn’t something that gives you diarreah. The symtoms from the World Health Organization are: People may experience:
- runny nose
- sore throat
- cough
- fever
- difficulty breathing (severe cases)
Not one single thing about diarreah! So what’s up with the shortage on toilet paper? Crazy I tell you.
So beyond all that this week has been good. I have been in pretty good spirits. There was several days of sunny warm weather here in the Bay Area. Yesterday we had rain which was good because we’ve not had any rain in some time. I double check that fact and the Mercury news reports that it has been 38 days without any measurable rainfall. It was January 28th the last time we had a decent rain.
So with everything going on in the world the thing is block out some of the news and keep a positive outlook on life. Yes there’s an epidemic going on but if we all keep our wits about us we should be able to pull out of it OK. We need to protect out senior citizens and those of us who have compromised immune systems. So you might have to just talk them over the phone till this is over. I called my mother to check on her.
Take a deep breathe and thing happy thoughts. It’s going to be challenging but we can pull through. We just all have to be cautious and remember to wash your hands more than normal.
