Man has been sailing the seas and waterways for millennia. During that time how ships were built and powered also changed. With climate change being more of an issue one of the ways we’ve developed as a planet is to ship goods and products around the world on water. Currently, those ships are powered mostly by diesel fuel. Which in turn pollutes the air and waters and contributes to the ever-growing climate problems we face on Earth.
The future of how boats are made
I found this video from Just Have a Think about 3 new ways ship manufacturers are looking at changing how boats are made which would implement new technologies to help the boats operate in a greener fashion. While watching this video I thought WOW these aren’t crazy crackpot ideas. These are simply applying current technologies and science to the problem of dirty energy used in shipping.
If we could reduce energy consumption and save money doing it why wouldn’t we change how ships sail the seas? Who knows how this could change or revolutionalize the shipping of goods around our planet. It could be just the jumping-off point for other enhancements in shipping. Change isn’t bad.

What did you think?
Wasn’t that interesting? I mean all 3 were incredible and even if some of the ships traversing the planet were updated it could reduce emissions and reduce the burning of fossil fuels. A step forward is a good thing and could lead to the next big breakthrough in science or technology.
I thought the first boat was really amazing. It looks cool and the fact that they applied the technology from airplanes was very cool. The sails retracting was pretty interesting too. That way the ship wouldn’t be limited by the sail. I know it’s not been fully tested and a full-size model built and tested but it sure seems to have some good potential.

Our planet is changing and we need to make adjustments so that humans have a planet to live on. I know there are some people who think that’s bunk but I’ve been seeing the changes in our weather. Not to mention all those pesky scientists who have been telling us for decades that the planet is changing. I even saw a news article from the early 1900s that spoke to this and blew my mind. We don’t think of scientists having the knowledge or skill to predict something like climate change, but they did.
