Cadillac Lyriq
Cadillac announces it’s new EV SUV this past Thursday. The Cadillac Lyriq. This video is interesting. The launch is more glitz than facts. The marketing video was impressive. After the marketing video, there was a Q&A session. The presenters didn’t seem comfortable. I think the thing that jumped out to me is these gasp for breath as they were speaking. Maybe that’s about mic placement and not their comfort.
The car is beautiful. Large wheels, long wheelbase, and smooth curves, and transitions. This car goes into production in 2023. It is a concept car however, it’s approximately 80% production-ready. The Information Panel (IP) is the thing you notice first when you get into the car. The IP is a 33-inch curved screen. Lots of electric gadgets in The car dominate the interior. You see some trim that you might have seen in new Volvos or BMWs. The driver’s senses are driving design aspects for this car. They demonstrate this by having the lights start to come on as you walk up to the car.
One of the big concerns for many Americans is the range and charging. The range they are pushing for is over 300 miles. This should help with that anxiety. Related to charging a question to the presenters was would Cadillac build a charging network to support their car? Response; Cadillac will not build their own network of chargers however, they will partner with EVGo to bring online approximately 2,700 additional charging stations throughout the United States.
Wrap up
I keep seeing these announcements from different automotive manufacturers. The future appears to have more and more options but that’s the future. I would like to start seeing more electric cars on the roads. Especially like this one! This car is pretty sexy. It will be interesting to see the price because that’s also what will drive the success of these cars.
What are your thoughts? Does it look like something you would drive? Check out my other post I’ve been thinking about electric cars for more.
